I work(ed) in retail (food & fashion), so I get it. I have worked every major holiday so I know how nice it is to have the holidays off to spend time with my immediate family who also gets those days off. But while we are applauding the Mall of America and other companies for staying closed on thanksgiving and opening later on black friday…just remember those who never get those days off. I’m talking about nurses, doctors, police officers, firefighters, hot-line volunteers and SOOOO much more…people are still clocked in while you are going into food coma from those potatoes and turkey. 

There are things you can do to make a difference for those who work on thanksgiving. For example bring donuts, coffee, etc to your local first responders and show appreciation.
